Privacy policy

 1. Why this policy?  

When a user (the “User”) accesses and uses the website www.cfobelgium.be  (the “Website“), CFO Belgium is likely to collect certain personal data concerning the User, i.e. information relating to the User as a natural person and enabling it identify him or her, either directly (e.g. his or her first or last name) or indirectly (e.g. the IP address of his or her browsing device) (together, the “Personal Data“). This policy therefore aims to inform the User of the conditions under which his or her Personal Data are processed on the Website, while ensuring their protection. 

2. Who is the controller?  

The person responsible for the processing of Personal Data collected on the Webite (the “data controller”) is:

 If CFO Belgium were to use subcontractors in connection with the processing of Personal Data, they will be listed in the “Register of processing activities” which is kept at CFO Belgium. 

CFO Belgium will ensure that its possible subcontractors respect the same level of security with regard to the protection of Personal Data (even if they are located outside the European Union). 

CFO Belgium disclaims any responsibility for the use of third-party websites linked to the Website, as the case may be. In order to know the privacy policy applicable to the use of these third-party websites, the User is invited to consult the applicable policy appearing on the websites concerned. 

 

3. What Personal Data are collected?  

CFO Belgium may process Personal Data of Users, such as first and last names, titles, postal addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, payment information, connection data (dates and times of connections, IP address) and browsing data.  

The Website also uses “Cookies” to enhance the User’s experience. The User is invited to read the Website’s Cookie Policy, which details the types of Cookies used on the Site. 

4. For what purposes are certain Personal Data collected?  

The User’s Personal Data are processed in compliance with applicable data protection legislation, namely Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data. 

 CFO Belgium may collect Personal Data in order to: 

  • carry out statistical operations, analysis, selection and segmentation of customers in order to improve its knowledge of its customers; 
  • measure the frequentation of the Website; 
  • manage its business relationships (customers or prospects); or 
  • develop its activities (improvement of the quality of services). 

5. How are Personal Data stored?  

All technical, organisational and human measures shall be taken to ensure data protection. In accordance with applicable law, the “Register of processing activities” of CFO Belgium lists the method of storage as well as the security measures taken to protect the confidentiality of Personal Data collected. 

User’s Personal Data may nevertheless have to be disclosed pursuant to an applicable law (in the broadest sense) or by virtue of a decision of a competent regulatory or judicial authority or, if necessary, in order for CFO Belgium to preserve its rights or interests. 

The User is solely responsible for the security and confidentiality of his/her Personal Data (login data, identifier, password, etc.). In the event of theft or abuse of his/her Personal Data, the User is invited to inform CFO Belgium without delay at the contact details mentioned in point 2 above. 

If, despite all the security measures taken, a violation of the confidentiality of the Personal Data of the Users of the Website should occur, CFO Belgium will notify the Data Protection Authority as soon as possible and at the latest within the legal time limit (currently 72 hours after becoming aware of the violation). 

6. For how long are Personal Data stored in the database? 

Personal Data are kept for the duration strictly necessary to achieve the purposes referred to in point 4 and are deleted within three years of their collection or, where appropriate, the lack of reaction of the User to any messages from CFO Belgium. At the end of their retention period, they are deleted. 

7. What are the User’s rights and how to exercise them? 

The User may at any time submit a request to CFO Belgium in order to find out what information concerning him/her is held, to retrieve it in an easily usable and portable form, to oppose its processing, to have it modified or deleted, by contacting CFO Belgium at secretariat@cfobelgium.be. These requests will be processed as soon as possible and at the latest within one month of receipt. The User also has the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority  (www.autoriteprotectiondonnees.be). 

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. The User is therefore invited to check whether it has been updated since his or her last visit.
